Chemical Peels Course training at Bella Jules Academy, Ossett

Chemical Peels Course

One day at the academy in Ossett: peel types and strengths, skin preparation, application and aftercare, with a hands-on practical on a live model.

Level
Intermediate
Duration
1 Day
Price
£299
Location
Ossett, West Yorkshire

A chemical peel is a treatment, not a product, and the difference is judgement. Two clients can sit in the same chair with the same peel in the bottle and need completely different handling, because skin that is thicker, thinner, sensitised, recently exposed to sun or already being treated for something else will not respond in the same way.

This course is built around that judgement. It covers the peel types and their strengths, how to prepare the skin beforehand, how to apply a peel and what the client needs to do afterwards. It is listed as an intermediate course and runs for a single day, so it is a step up from the beginner courses. If you are not sure it is the right next step for you, ask Kim before you book.

Who this course is for

  • Therapists already working in skin treatments who want to add chemical peels to what they offer.
  • Learners who have completed Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology or a beginner skin course and are ready for something more results-driven.
  • Anyone working towards the Skin Specialist Advanced Package, which includes chemical peels alongside its other treatments.

What the course covers

The course gives comprehensive training in professional chemical peel treatments. It covers peel types, strengths, skin preparation, application and post-treatment care, so you learn the whole treatment from the first consultation to the advice you give at the door.

  • Accredited certification
  • Training manual
  • Hands-on practical with live model
  • Ongoing support

Why strength and skin preparation come first

A peel works by removing the outer layers of the skin in a controlled way, and the strength you choose decides how far that goes. Choosing well is not a matter of reaching for the strongest option. It is a matter of matching the peel to the skin in front of you, and preparing that skin so it can cope. That is why peel types, strengths and skin preparation are part of the syllabus and not an afterthought.

Preparation also covers the conversation before treatment: what the client has been using on their skin, how it has behaved in the past, and whether a peel is the right choice for them on this occasion. Sometimes the right answer is to wait, or to suggest something gentler.

The practical day

Everything happens in one day at Bella Jules Academy in Ossett. The practical is hands-on with a live model, so the new knowledge is put to work straight away. You leave with accredited certification and a training manual to refer back to, and the course includes ongoing support after the day itself.

What a thorough consultation looks like

Before any peel, you need to know what you are working with. A thorough consultation looks at the client skin type and condition, what products and treatments they have used recently, how their skin has reacted to treatments in the past and what they hope to achieve. It also looks for the things that make a peel the wrong choice for that person on that day. Learning to ask the right questions in the right order, and to record the answers properly, is as much a part of the skill as the application itself.

It is also where honesty matters. A client who has booked a peel does not always need one, and a therapist who is willing to say so is the one clients come back to.

Peels in a wider treatment menu

Peels are rarely a one-off, which is worth keeping in mind when you decide how to fit them into what you offer. Many clients return for further treatments, so it helps to think about how often you would see them, what you would recommend in between appointments and how that advice changes if their skin responds differently from what either of you expected.

Aftercare is part of the treatment

What a client does in the days after a peel matters as much as the treatment itself, which is why post-treatment care is on the syllabus. You learn what to tell clients before they leave, so the advice is clear and consistent, and so they know what to expect and when to get in touch.

On its own, or as part of a package

Chemical peels can be booked as a single course, and they also form part of the Skin Specialist Advanced Package with Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology, Dermaplaning and Microneedling. Choosing between the two comes down to how much of that wider skill set you want; the price shown above is for this course alone.

If you plan to treat clients once you have qualified, ask your insurer what they expect to see from a one-day course before you pay for it. They set the rules for your cover, so their answer is the one that matters.
